Culture shock and mental health

Event Description

In a mix of speech and workshop you will gain knowledge and insights on culture shock and the psychological dynamics related to intercultural living.

Nanna gives a light overview of theory of culture shock and how it affects our psychology. The dynamics of transitioning into a new culture can challenge us to a degree where it feels overwhelming.

The goal of the workshop is to provide you with easy-to-use tools supporting your sense of empowerment. You will leave feeling less alone and stressed in your experience as well as empowered to overcome the transitional changes you experience.

Content:

  • Understanding the emotional reactions of culture shock
  • Introduction to tools cultivating resilience and mental health

Outcome:

  • Increased awareness and knowledge of tools to decrease transitional stress
  • Introduction to working with the suggested tools

Previous participants said:

  • “The information helps me navigate the challenges of transition, and gain some clarity in how to deal with certain aspects that are difficult at the moment”
  • “Can use the storytelling exercise and realizing everyone is going through the same struggles was helpful”

The workshop is free of charge and including a light meal.
